Investing in Africa

INVESTING IN AFRICA

After two years of absence, we are finally back with a new team and new ambitions. The Africa Summit St.Gallen is a two-day conference in which we will bring together top tier leaders and visionaries to discuss the latest issues and invite you to shape the discussion and thus the way into the future.

In this year’s Summit we will be focusing on the topic “Investing in Africa”. We want to hear the opinions of big investors but also young entrepreneurs on this hot topic to provide a deeper insight. Africa's journey, getting first tagged as “The Hopeless Continent” on the cover of The Economist in 2000 and then “Africa Rising” a decade later, has been anything but uninteresting. Furthermore, the African continent has become the newest destination for emerging market investors and multinational enterprises are expanding their activities in Africa. Moving closer, the rising number of investments in impactful start-ups reflects the increasing investor confidence in businesses across the continent’s major hubs (WEF, 2019).

Can sustainable and inclusive growth on the African continent be achieved with foreign infrastructural investments? Why isn’t there more investment in Africa and how can one develop financial instruments to invest in people in Africa? In order to broach the issues of these noteworthy trends, reach out and share your opinion on the topic, engage in the discussion and let us know what you think.
